What is flamenco?
Flamenco is an art and a life form of people from
southern part of Spain. Generally it is presented
by song, guitar and dance. Please read Flamenco

Are there any places in
Singapore to learn flamenco dance?
There are some flamenco dance classes in Singapore.

What do I need to start
flamenco dance lessons?
Leotard (or T shirt) and comfortable (big) skirt
may be appropriate. The most important thing is
shoes. The flamenco shoes are quite expensive (around
$200-250) but high heels (with thick heel which
is not so tall) are perfectly fine. NO sandals!
How much does it cost to learn
flamenco?
The class cost varies, but in average, from $15-25/1
hour class. Special workshops can be more expensive.
How long does it take to be able
to dance?
Many, many years! But don't be discouraged. There
are always simple stuff for beginners. The folkloric
dance called Sevillanas can be learnt in 4 to 6
hours!
How can I learn flamenco guitar?
There a just a few flamenco guitar classes available
in Singapore. If you want to know more about guitar
classes, please contact
us. There are also some workshops by artists
from abroad once in a while. Please check our web
site occasionally to get the information about those
workshops.
Where can I get flamenco CDs?
The internet is of course the best way. Please
use the search engine to get CDs. Unfortunately
there are not so many stores in Singapore which
sell flamenco CDs yet.
Where can I meet flamenco fans?
SFC members take lessons at various studios in
Singapore and occasionally hold self-practice sessions.
